Based on the western action drama film, “Gang of Roses”, I took a still shot and transformed it into a print. In this scene, Chastity (played by Lil’ Kim) lies in bed, when two men come in, threatening to kill her, she then pulls out two shotguns and shoots these two men, and blows the smoke off her guns. I took inspiration from this scene and recreated it into this piece to create a comic-like print. This print is a two-block linoleum print, meaning on one block I carved where I didn’t want the burnt sienna ink to go. Then transferring the ink on the carved block onto a new block, to then carve out where I didn’t want the red ink. With two blocks now carved, I carefully applied ink and lined up paper to block to create this dramatic two-block linoleum print.
