Believe it or not, but the mythical creature of the unicorn represents purity and innocence. Growing up, I struggled with anxiety and identity and looked to objects and symbols that I felt represented myself for comfort. One of these commodities was a unicorn. From posters to shirts to stuffed animals with unicorns, I became obsessed with this fictional creature.

Through the hardships of anxiety, I found the unicorn as a symbol of my uniqueness. When I was a kid, I was gifted a unicorn Pillow Pet and a unicorn Dream Lites plushie. When imagining and playing for fun with these toys, I saw the unicorn Pillow Pet as the mother of the unicorn Dream Lites. In this piece of “TIME,” I set the clock to the time I was born (3:55/15:55) and depicted the unicorn as my own mother giving birth to me. I take nostalgia and innocence in this ombre rainbow roll relief print to give an homage to my younger self with love.
